Reverse Tailgating: Does it still work

First, what is tailing gating in the IDN space? Tailgating was fairly popular when I first started IDNing back in 2006. Here’s how it works, someone posts an IDN.com they just registered for an appraisal.  The appraisal responses are positive, the scavengers pounce on the .net :) I wore out ctrl-c and ctrl-v copying and pasting keywords off pages I would scrape and also wore out F5 making sure not to miss any new appraisal thread or posts.

Now on to reverse tailgating, that is where you grab the .com when it drops using the .net as a reference as to whether the name is worth registering.  Note not all IDN.nets that are/were registered are good domains, but many, dare I say most, hmmm better scratch the “most” go with many are.  Therefore if the .net is good then the .com should be better.  I grabbed alot of domains 2 and 3 years ago playing the drop game using “reverse tailgating” …. so does it still work?  A couple of days ago I ran the a days drops through checking for available .coms where the .net was registered.  Please keep in mind this is well after snapnames would have caught any drop and for that matter most IDN drop catchers using an api would have grabbed their catches before I started checking.  So what did I find…

All of these were available at the time of this post.  Not bad IMO, pick up a few names for reg fee with very little effort.
